Course topics include the medicalization of pregnancy and childbirth, birth control and abortion, reproductive technologies, maternal mortality, special populations targeted for reproductive control, and reproductive justice. The Sociology of Reproduction is a 3-credit, upper-division course and is cross-listed with Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies as WST340.

Students examine social issues involving deviance using a sociological perspective. Course topics included theories of social deviance, stigma, social control, interpersonal violence, mental health, self-harm, and suicide, substance use and abuse, and inequality in deviance.
